Active Nursing Assistant Training offers a five-week Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) course in Texas, providing hands-on learning experiences. The program costs $990, with a planned price increase in 2024.



Program Details

  • Payment Plan: Payments are due in three even installments, covering books, background check, and discounted TB testing. Textbooks are issued on the first day of class.

Prerequisites for Nurse Aide/CNA Class

To enroll, students must:

  • Be healthy enough to work 8–12 hours a day.
  • Have the strength to lift 20 pounds.
  • Speak and write English fluently (language assessment may be required).
  • Hold a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Obtain a release from a doctor if pregnant.

Additional Details

  • CNA Certification: Following the course, students schedule a state test. Successful completion grants CNA certification.
  • Employment Opportunities: CNAs can work in nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, home health, and more.
  • CPR Certification: The school offers American Heart Association’s Healthcare Provider Certification for $65.
  • Grants: Currently, no state or local grants are available for the program.
  • Background Check: A background check is required, with the school covering the cost.
  • Entrance Exam: No entrance exam is required, but an English proficiency assessment may be needed.
  • Physical Exam: Generally not required unless pregnant.
  • Other Fees: State test fee ($125), uniform, flu shot, and TB test are not included, adding approximately $150 to the course cost.
  • Age Requirement: No age requirement; students as young as 16 are eligible if enrolled in high school or possessing a GED.

Founder’s Biography

Active Nursing Assistant Training of Clear Lake was founded in July 2014 by Brenda Manning, a nurse with extensive clinical experience. Brenda, with a background in teaching nursing, became a nursing assistant, EMT, and RN. She transitioned to full-time teaching and business ownership in 1998, driven by a passion for sharing her nursing expertise.
